Loni Lukatch and Brian Cinoski

Ms. Loni Marshalla Anne Lukatch is happy to share her bridal registry table with everyone! Loni is the daughter of Ms. Gloria Ann Cheslock of Hazleton, who will host a bridal shower in her honor on Sunday, May 25, 2008.

On December 1, 2006, Mr. Brian Stanley Cinoski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Cinoski of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, proposed to Loni at Lake Seneca, one of the Finger Lakes in New York. Since then, they have been enjoying their engagement and the planning of their wedding ceremony, which will be celebrated at Saint Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton on Saturday, July 5, 2008. Their reception will take place at the historic Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in Scranton, where they first met in April of 2004.

Among the many songs written about weddings, this gem, by Fleeson and Von Tilzer, from the 1920’s is our favorite:

“I’ll be with you in apple blossom time,
I’ll be with you to change your name to mine.

One day in May
I’ll come and say:
‘Happy the bride the sun shines on today!’

What a wonderful wedding there will be,
what a wonderful day for you and me!
Church bells will chime
You will be mine
In apple blossom time.”

Wedding season has begun and in this space, from time to time, we hope to include snapshots of our brides and grooms and their bridal registry tables.

For decades, Fellin’s has taken special care to lovingly display each bride’s shower and wedding gift suggestions on unique tables in our store. When relatives and friends come to choose a gift, they can see all the happy couple’s choices in one place. Upon selection, each gift is removed from the table, attractively wrapped, and delivered (in the Greater Hazleton area) with our compliments.

We love our brides and grooms and we feel very fortunate, indeed, to share in their special day. We’ll do everything we can to help make their new life together a joyful one.

“The first Sunday after the first full moon after the Vernal Equinox.” An elegant formula to determine Easter Sunday’s date. This year, Easter is about as early as can be. And, while the temperature and weather forecast here in Northeastern Pennsylvania agree its still Winter, we know that Spring is coming.

Just today, while walking in a little wood nearby, I spotted an impressive hawk’s nest under construction. The builder was perched nearby, silently watching me watching him. I didn’t mean to, but I disturbed a flock of robins feeding in a saturated clearing - all those luscious earthworms! And then I spotted a chipmunk rustling in some oak leaves near a rock wall. When a clever, little chipmunk appears, you know its Spring.

Every Easter, we take special care to feature lovely gifts for adults’ Easter baskets. While we confess that nothing is quite as perfect as a giant, solid chocolate bunny, we’re sure our charming, enamelled collectors’ boxes will bring a smile. And no calories! Choose from a delightful selection of songbirds, birdhouses, puppies, and bunnies.

Carl Faberge, legendary jeweler to the Czars, is remembered most for his fabulously ornate, jeweled eggs. Our colorful egg pendants are inspired by his creations. Carefully crafted in Russia of enamel on gilt silver, they may be worn as a pendant or on a chatelaine pin. Very stylish, indeed.

A new tradition: “Lovelinks” murano and sterling bead bracelets. Start with three or four beads and add them whenever you like. Choose from a large selection of wonderfully vivid colors and patterns and whimsical charms. As fun to build as they are to wear!

Let us never forget why we celebrate Easter. More than bunnies and baskets, more than just a change of seasons, it is a time of remembrance and renewal. Precious symbols of faith, crafted of 14K gold, are a lovely way to mark this very special day.

Golden Shamrock Wall Plaque/Paperweight

Every March, we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by watching one of our favorite classic movies, “The Quiet Man.” Its tradition … and one we look forward to with delight! An early Technicolor picture starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara, it was the first American feature to be filmed entirely on location in Ireland’s picturesque countryside. Oscar-winning director, John Ford, wonderfully fills this masterpiece with his love of Ireland and its people. We’re sure you’ll enjoy this cinematic gem!

Belleek Durrow Vase

Another way we commemorate St. Patrick’s Day is by featuring Ireland’s fine porcelain, Belleek Parian China. It has been hand crafted for decades at the Belleek Pottery, which nestles on the banks of the River Erne, near the village of Belleek. Since its introduction in 1857, Belleek has been prized by porcelain lovers the world over and has found its way into the collections of royalty, heads of state and museums alike. It is instantly recognizable; no other porcelain combines such egg shell delicacy with the translucent ivory tint of parian china. And every piece is truly unique … every handle, finial, flower and brush stroke is applied by hand.

Claddagh Jewelry

Ireland is an enchanted land of legends and no legend is as well loved as the Legend of Claddagh, beautifully illustrated in our collection of sterling silver Claddagh jewelry: Over four hundred years ago in a village called Claddagh, County Galway, a fisherman presented a ring to his bride as a wedding band. The ring was crafted as he waited for his chance to escape from a Moorish prison. He fashioned it with a crown atop a heart held gently in two hands. The crown meant loyalty, the hands friendship, and the heart love.

On St. Patrick’s Day, we wish all our Irish friends a happy day as we celebrate in their rich heritage!

“A Valentine wish may only last a day,
but the LOVE a gift from Fellin’s brings
will never fade away.”

Valentine’s Day … February 14th

In November and December, much is made of Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the importance of retail commerce to the nation’s economy. We hear reports almost every day about the relative strength (or weakness) of consumer activity leading up to Christmas. This preoccupation with the “dollars and cents” of business makes it easy to forget the real meaning of gift-giving at Christmas.

Ideally, we give gifts to our family and friends as tokens of love. Sometimes, its an opportunity to surprise and delight them with something completely unexpected! Consider a sparkling diamond ring of incomparable quality and exquisite design. To make them happy and share in their happiness. Perhaps a lovely pair of gemstone earrings. To create a memorable moment to be savored and relived through the years. A diamond Add-a-Link bracelet?

Sometimes, its a simple gesture, a kind thought expressed in a lovely sterling locket or pin. Christmas is an opportunity to treat that special someone to an extravagance they’d never consider for themselves. A beautiful Waterford crystal table lamp. Or something completely whimsical … just to see that wonderful smile! Warm and fuzzy Bearington bears, musical snowglobes, and cheery ornaments.

Christmas is a time to reflect on the reason for the season. A charming porcelain Nativity, crystal angels, a golden cross and chain. Precious symbols of faith to treasure forever.

We promise: Fellin’s Jewelers’ eighty-five year tradition of courteous service will make your Christmas shopping a delightful experience. We’re eager to help you find that just-right gift of love in our relaxed and beautiful atmosphere. Please join us!

It’s time to make the switch to fall colors! The wardrobe equivalent of migrating geese and fall foliage: we eliminate the whites and bright colors from our closets in favor of camel, grey, and earth tones.

Gold Earrings with Gemstones

This quiet autumn palette begs for a bit of sparkle and gleam. The glow of yellow gold is a natural choice. A hammered finish is fun because it catches the light and is essentially a tailored, non-dressy texture.

18K Gold and Diamond Pendant and Earrings

Our fall collection includes massive bangle bracelets in the fashion jewelry case, as well as more delicate earrings of 14K hammered yellow gold accented with clusters of gemstone beads that dangle freely each time you move.

Sterling Bracelet and Pin

Sterling silver is a perennial classic, beautifully complimenting shades of brown in tweeds and knits. Finally, the warm tones of cinnamon and spice freshwater pearls offer a soft glow in multi-strand necklaces and earrings.

Embrace the season, and let Fellin’s help you choose the perfect pieces of jewelry to celebrate Autumn in style!

Partners: Andrea, Celeste, and Mary Celeste

At the dawn of a new millennium, third generation partners, Mary Celeste and Andrea Kosko sought out new gemstones. Aware that political changes within countries affect economic markets, they identified Tashmarine, found in Xinjiang Province in China, and Imperial Diopside, found in Siberia, as prized specimens. Neither had been available in the west until the demise of the USSR and the commercial development of China. Fellin’s introduced them to the Hazleton market in 2000 and 2001.

Recognizing that e-commerce is an increasingly important retail channel, Fellin’s opened its first Internet store in 2006. E-tailing presents unique challenges and, as the Internet continually evolves, so must e-commerce websites. To effectively compete in a “Web 2.0″ world, fellinsonline is transforming itself once more. The blog you’re reading has been added, as well as many beautiful examples of the jewelers’ art. There’s much more to come, so login and stay tuned!

While Fellin’s Jewelers is very proud of its past, it is important to spend as much time looking forward as looking back. Fellin’s approaches the future with optimism and anticipates many more exciting innovations. However, there is one thing that will never change: Fellin’s Jewelers’ eighty-five-year tradition of excellent quality, service, style and value.

Celeste and Edward, wedding day

In the 1950’s, Celeste Fellin Kosko and her husband, Edward, took the helm from founders John and Mary Fellin. Edward’s top priority was education. He completed a rigorous course of study with the Gemological Institute of America and earned the title of Registered Jeweler. Later, after several more years of study and practical experience, he was recognized as a Certified Gemologist. Throughout his career, his desire to learn about discoveries and new diagnostic methods in the field of gemology never waned. Above all, he took special joy in sharing the romance and incomparable beauty of fine gems with his customers.

Together, Celeste and Edward added many new lines of gemstone jewelry and fine giftware to an already impressive selection. Among them, Waterford Crystal was brought to the Hazleton market in 1959 by Fellin’s. Waterford stands out as the premiere hand-cut luxury crystal, prized for its beauty and craftsmanship. In the early 1970’s, Fellin’s introduced Pulsar LED watches, the first fully electronic wristwatch in the world, a space-age technological innovation.

In 1984, the partners began an extensive expansion and restoration of Fellin’s historic center-city location. They carefully oversaw the preservation of design elements from one of Hazleton’s first moving picture theatres, the Lyric Theatre (c. 1910,) which were uncovered during the course of renovation. When the project was completed, Fellin’s elegant display space had doubled. The tradition of excellence, integrity, and innovation cultivated by Celeste and Edward during their thirty-five year tenure continues today.
